If you’ve been following my blog posts in recent days, you might have noticed that I’m putting a lot of emphasis on starting a healthy morning routine, and prioritising good sleep to help you get there. I could go on talking about either for hours, as these are two important foundations of a sustainable wellbeing practice. They can make a world of difference to how you feel every day, to your energy levels as a whole, and affect how you show up in the world. I’ve been thinking about ways to motivate more people to jump onto the wellness (band)wagon, and after thinking about it for quite some time, I’m super excited to present the Hello Happiest. Healthy Habits challenge to you today.
Not Your Typical Challenge
The kind of challenge I have in mind has nothing to do with being competitive, and everything to do with showing up for yourself. The healthy habits challenge is designed to make it as easy as possible for anyone to join in, not to push them beyond their limits. The challenge has three main components: (1) committing to a process of starting a healthy morning ritual, (2) making sure that you’re getting consistent sleep, and (3) setting weekly health-related intentions to help you make gradual progress. In a time where we’re all taking extra precautions to preserve our health (over and above the usual flu season scurry), it’s a fitting moment to bring things in and set (or reset) how we go about looking after ourselves every day.
What You Need To Join The Challenge
You don’t need to do all that much to join in for the challenge. In your own time and at your own pace, read through two of my recent articles: How To Start a Healthy Morning Ritual From Scratch and Why a Decent Bedtime Matters (Especially If You Work a 9 to 5). The first piece lays down a five week process designed to help create a kick ass morning ritual. It asks you to do one thing a week, and to keep adding one additional new thing per week along the way. The second piece helps to make completing these tasks easier by encouraging you to set a fixed bed time for yourself every night. To take part in the challenge, all you need is a commitment to the five week process, and to locking in your bedtime and the time you’ll be waking up over the course of this period.
A Weekly Challenge Check-In With Christi
You don’t have to go at it alone, of course! Once a week for the next 5 weeks, I will be doing a weekly challenge check-in on the Hello Happiest. Instagram Live every Thursday from 19:00 to 19:30. This is an opportunity for you to tune in and check-in with me about how you’re getting on with the challenge. It will also help to hold you more accountable to the weekly additions to the morning ritual, and to touch base about the experience as a whole. My goal is to walk it through with you, to offer support and encouragement, and to see you get to the other side of the challenge with a morning ritual that encourages sustainable health and wellbeing for the foreseeable future.
A Challenge Bonus: Intention Setting For Each Week
On top of checking in on how things are coming along, I’ll also be wrapping up each Instagram Live session by asking you to think about the three things you want to focus on for the week ahead. This is a great way to get into the habit of setting short-term, achievable goals related to your health and wellbeing. These can be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual health related. The idea is to speak these out into the world, and to touch base about how far you got a week later.
